Sanofi Partners with Startup Creasphere for Digital Health Program

Article

The partnership promotes the creation of innovative ways to provide patients with medical solutions.

Global biopharmaceutical company Sanofi has partnered with a Europe-based digital health innovation platform called Startup Creasphere to promote such technologies in Europe, according to an announcement.

Sanofi will also be working with Startup Creasphere and other companies to create the digital health hub, which will provide a platform for corporations and startups to meet and pilot solutions and services. Companies will also be able to drive investments, learn and share experiences and facilitate international expansion.

Startup Creasphere is supported by Plug and Play, a global innovation company headquartered in Silicon Valley that seeks to develop technology startups.

Startup Creasphere will run two sessions a year where startups will be evaluated, and the most promising ones will be selected by corporate partners, like Sanofi, to join each session.

The selection of startups takes a few months, with thousands of startups globally submitting applications to get accepted to join a session, Hadiyah Fain, marketing manager of Plug and Play’s health program in Silicon Valley told Healthcare Analytics News™.

If a startup is chosen, it will then pitch its product to corporate partners, who may choose to invest and expand the company.

Sanofi will focus on startups in the nutritional health and allergy space first. The company could be looking for new health technology that can administer relief in that area, like something that can catch symptoms before they start, Fain told us.

And while Sanofi will be focusing on that area first, other categories of sessions include big data and analytics, diagnostics, personal healthcare and augmented reality support.

“We are excited to partner with Startup Creasphere and their network of startups to develop new and innovative healthcare solutions for our consumers, who are looking more and more to the digital space for support that goes beyond the pill,” said Oliver Freichel, corporate vice president of strategy and business development at Sanofi Consumer Healthcare.

The partnership represents a growing demand to expand digital health innovations and health technology solutions globally to benefit patients.
