Tyto Care today announced its partnership with Best Buy to offer TytoHome, a handheld examination device with attachments to enable the remote diagnosis of acute care situations.

The device can examine the lungs, heart, skin, ears, throat and abdomen and can measure body temperature to enable the diagnosis of ear infections, sore throats, fever, cold and flu, allergies, stomach aches, upper respiratory infections, coughs and rashes.

Users can perform medical exams and send captured data to a primary care provider for diagnosis 24/7, no matter their location.

TytoHome visits will cost $59 or less, depending on the visit and the user’s health insurance plan.

Tyto Care also announced an additional partnership with Sanford Health, to provide medical care to consumers throughout the country. The nonprofit will provide care to TytoHome users in Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa and South Dakota. TytoHome users will be able to connect with a Sanford Health medical provider for a live, physician-guided exam and diagnosis.

The company also works with telehealth platforms across the country, including LiveHealth Online, powered by American Well. LiveHealth Online is the provider for users who purchase TytoHome online and reside outside of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota or Iowa.

And the partnership with Tyto Care is just the latest example of Best Buy’s commitment to healthcare and improving the lives of customers through technology.

Last August, Best Buy acquired GreatCall, a provider of connected health and personal emergency response services to the aging population with more than 900,000 paying subscribers, for $800 million in cash.

The acquisition of GreatCall is a manifestation of the Best Buy 2020 strategy to “enrich lives through technology by addressing key human needs,” according to the 2018 news release.

“We’re excited to partner with Best Buy, LiveHealth Online, American Well and regional health systems to extend our on-demand telehealth platform across the U.S., enhancing primary care delivery,” said Dedi Gilad, CEO and co-founder of Tyto Care.

The device is available for $299.99 on BestBuy.com for all customers and in select Minnesota stores, with in-store availability coming to North Dakota, South Dakota, California and Ohio.
